What to Do If You Find Injured or Orphaned Wildlife

  • Safely contain the animal.
If it is safe to do so, wearing gloves, gently place the animal in a secure, well-ventilated box.
  • Keep the animal warm.
Place the box in a warm area to help reduce stress and prevent the animal from getting chilled.
  • Keep the animal dark and quiet.
Put the box in a dark, quiet part of your home, away from people, pets, TVs, and noise.
  • Do not give food or water.
Please do not offer any food or liquids, as this can do more harm than good.
  • Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator right away.
